Plan a campaign or measure completed results
Start with planning assumptions before you spend, or switch modes to evaluate actual campaign outcomes. Your entries stay in your browser.
What if performance changes?
Downside and upside scenarios vary both response rate and customer close rate by 25% around your entries. They are sensitivity tests, not forecasts.
| Scenario | Response rate | Close rate | Customers | Net return | ROI |

Plan before you mail
Choose Plan a Campaign and enter the total campaign budget, mailing quantity, expected response rate, qualification rate, close rate, average first-order revenue, and gross margin. The calculator shows a baseline projection, downside and upside scenarios, the number of customers needed to break even, and a plain-English decision. Treat your rates as assumptions to validate—not promised results.
Analyze a completed campaign
Choose Analyze Past Results and enter the responses, qualified leads, customers, average first-order revenue, and gross margin you actually observed. Use consistent definitions and an attribution window selected before analysis. The result helps identify whether response, lead quality, sales conversion, or campaign economics constrained performance.
What ROI means here
ROI uses estimated gross profit—not revenue—minus total campaign cost, divided by campaign cost. Include printing, postage, list/data, creative, landing-page, call-tracking, and other campaign-specific costs in the budget. Gross margin should reflect the revenue remaining after the direct cost of fulfilling the resulting orders. Repeat purchases are excluded unless you deliberately use a validated customer-value figure.
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator submit my numbers?
No. The calculations run in your browser and no form submission is required.
What happens if a value is zero?
Metrics that cannot be divided by zero display as not available rather than NaN or Infinity.
Should average customer revenue include repeat purchases?
Use a definition that matches your analysis. For a conservative campaign view, use revenue attributable within the chosen measurement period.
